Allowing

We want to be in control, sometimes, too much. In that process, we lose connection - with self, with others, and with life. My experience with Amores Tangos in Argentina showed me the power of allowing vs. controlling.

Sometimes music elevates the vibration of our souls. Sometimes love softens the texture of our hearts.

The amazing Amores Tangos (it means “Tango Loves”) hosted a private house concert welcoming our Argentine Tango dance team to Buenos Aries. They couldn’t travel the world sharing their gifts during the pandemic, but they stayed with and in the art. They have devoted their lives to the art of tango music.

With a huge smile and pouring love, the lead guitarist Jose Teixido announced that our tango teachers Hugo Patyn & Celina Rotundo are like family to him in the US, and so he is our family here in Argentina.

A sense of melancholy transcendentally transported me back home to China - the sacred connection with family.

Maybe it’s the beautiful music, maybe it’s the loving words, maybe it’s the way they played from their hearts and souls, maybe it’s their pure love for life and commitment to artistic expressions, something magical and powerful overtook me.

Emotions over-rid my mental will, warm tears flooding. Thankfully, my teacher Hugo asked me to dance, so my eyes could hide into the swirl of Tango.

I have not had many moments like this in my life, and I am utterly inspired by it. I am grateful that I had allowed myself to connect with that magical moment.

How often are you allowing your authentic emotion to come through you?
